Create your own automated workflows without the need for developers. Contractbook in-app automation builder offers you a variety of automation workflows and integrations with your tech stack that you can use to empower your contract management.
Connect Contractbook to your communication and project management tools to increase collaboration and transparency in your organization.
Click on Automations from the top menu and open My automations page from the left-hand side. You can then choose Create New from the upper right-hand corner of the page:
Note: Automations are available to all users on our Foundation plan.
Examples of automated workflows available for Foundation users:
Here are some of the workflows you can automate on your own:
- Approval task automation
- Reminders automation
- Review task automation
- Custom task automation
- Flow of tasks automation
- Create a draft automation
- Move to a private folder automation
- Add to a shared folder automation
- Share document automation
- Create new drafts automatically upon questionnaire completion
- Trigger automation when a task is done
- Trigger automation when a document is sent for signature
- Automatically upload vendor documents
- Use Party and Signee variables in your automations
All automations allow you full customization by tailoring the steps.
For example, you can choose to automatically add all your signed sales confirmations to a shared folder and then automatically assign a reminder for a renewal task one year from the contract's signature.
The sky is the limit and you can use the precise logic which solves your manual work from start to end. Automated tasks and reminders connected to contracts make sure you are always ahead of the curve.
To ease the automation process for you, we have included an Automations dashboard view on a contract level. Once you open a draft, you can click on Automations in the right-hand sidebar to view any already applied automation workflows or use the recommended ones. Simply click on the recommended workflow and you can start configuring the premade automation template.
Can I share automations with my teammates?
It is possible to use Contractbook automations with Shared templates across accounts.
If you want to create an automation flow which runs across accounts within your team, you can achieve that with the use of shared templates.
When setting up the trigger event for the automation, you can simply choose a shared template you own, or have been shared with you and base the further setup steps on it. Templates shared with you will be listed under Shared with me label in the drop-down menu:
In case you own the template and have shared it with others, it will be located under My templates in the drop-down menu.
Now with this selection, you make sure that each time a draft has been created from the shared template and it was then fully signed, your own automation will run successfully across your teammates' accounts, regardless of whether you or another team member has created and signed the draft.
Note: There is an important Team management setup that must be performed in order for that setup to run properly. The teammates you want to be able to run the automation need to have access to your drafts and you need to have permission to see their drafts as well. This is an additional team permission level that can be set up by the team owner of your team.

If you cannot find your tool on the list of integrations, we have you covered as well!
Use webhooks in our automation builder or get access to our public APIs for completely tailored integrations with any of your tech-stack tools which you cannot find under the Integrations tab.
For your own automations you can use Contractbook in-app automation builder, but that is not all!
Our in-app webhook mechanism will allow you to integrate with Contractbook’s automation from your own applications or from external third-party services.
A webhook is a lightweight API that powers one-way data sharing triggered by events.
You can use webhook triggers and actions to achieve this:
Webhook Trigger → Receive data from a third-party application into Contractbook
Webhook Action → Push contract data from Contractbook to a third-party application
This allows you to:
- Automate manual work steps in your contract management process across applications
- Accomplish consistent data across all of your applications
- Eliminate the risk of manual errors and tedious manual work
If you want to know more about webhooks and how you can use them for your own integrations, you can read our article here or reach out to us in our Support Chat or send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
For any use case which cannot be designed with the use of webhooks, you can purchase access to our public APIs and get a tailored solution developed in collaboration between your and our developers.
We will invite you to a dedicated communication channel where the conversation with our experts will be focused on finding the best for your use case tailored solution.
Here is the official public APIs documentation your developers will be using if you decide to purchase access to Contractbook public APIs.
