What should do if a draft was shared with me?
The person who shared the draft with you has chosen one of three different levels of editing permission for you as the receiver:
- You can only read the draft;
- You can edit/add information to the fields in the draft;
- You can edit everything in the draft, including the body text.
If the sender has given you any of the editorial permission levels on the draft, they could also have chosen whether or not you will be able to send the draft as a new contract by starting the signature process.
Below you can see how to interact further with the draft. If there are any actions you are not able to perform, it is because you do not have the permissions for them.
How can I change a draft that was shared with me?
First of all, open the draft directly from the email you have received. You do not need to have a Contractbook account to access or edit the draft, just click on the blue button View draft:

In order to make any changes, first, make sure you are in Create mode or the Full-text editing is toggled on:
The person who sent you the draft will receive a notification each time you make any change to the draft they shared with you.
Important: Always save the edits you have made as they will not be saved automatically. You can do that by clicking on the blue button called Save changes in the upper right-hand corner.
How to edit or add information to fields in the draft?
In case the draft was shared with you along with editorial rights, you will be able to amend any changes to its content.
The first thing you will see in the draft shared with you is the Parties section at the top. Here you can add the relevant contact details of all parties related to the contract. Just click on the field you want to edit/add information to and you will be able to make the needed addition/change.
The parties added here will then be linked-to to the Signatures section of the draft. This is only relevant for you in case the owner of the draft has given you permission to initiate the signature process of the document.
Upload attachment
Scroll down after the Signatures field, just over the Message to the recipients, and click on Upload attachment.
