What is a template?
Templates are reusable contract "sketches" - a single template can be used for the creation of an unlimited amount of contracts. The purpose of using templates is to make it easier and faster for you to make contracts and to minimize the risk of making any mistakes.
A template may often include our editable fields.
Templates are essential and time-saving for anyone who needs to send out a specific type of contract to different recipients on an ongoing basis.
You can create your own customized and dynamic contract templates from scratch directly on our platform, or get access to any of the hundreds of useful Contractbook's premade templates absolutely for free from Contractbook templates folder under Templates tab.
You can also share your templates with any of your collaborators with the use of shared categories.
Template generator
In the same Templates tab, we also offer you to upload your own custom templates via Contractbook's Template generator. Generate and upload templates to your Contractbook account by using a simple questionnaire.
The result? A dynamic data-rich version of your own template is sent to you via email latest one working day after your request.
What is a draft?
Drafts are in their essence contracts in the process of making. All Contractbook contracts are drafts until they are sent for signature.
You can create your own draft from scratch or pick a specific template as your starting point. As a suggested workflow, we recommend that you always use a template, save it as a draft and then turn it into a contract by initiating the signature process.
You can also use drafts in collaboration with others by sharing them. You will in this case be able to manage the editing rights of the recipient.
Sharing a draft is especially useful if you need a lawyer or a colleague to approve or edit your draft before you sign and send it. You can also use that feature if you want to collect personal data from the recipients in editable fields they can customize on their own.
