How to create a template from a draft or a contract

You can easily create a new contract template from any of your contractssigned, pending, and rejected.‍ The only exception for this functionality is its usage on uploaded contracts.

Step 1: First open the contract you want to save as a template.

Step 2: Click Save as a new draft, located at the static navigation bar at the top of the document.

Step 3: The new draft you have created will automatically open.

Step 4: Once the new draft is opened, click on the three grey small dots in the top right-hand corner.

Step 5: Choose Save as a new template from the expanded drop-down menu.

Step 6: The new template will automatically open and give you the option to make any edits to it (if needed). You can send it as a contract right away or turn it into a draft each time you need a contract based on its contents. We recommend the second standard workflow for extra efficiency.

You can now delete the draft you created in Step 2 or use it for the creation of another contract if relevant.

Note: If the draft or contract you use to create a new template is shared with external collaborators, they will not be automatically added to the new template you create from the document. All the steps from the guide above link to your private documents.

You can make sure to share the new template with external collaborators easily by using Shared Spaces.

How to create a template from a draft?

If you want to create a new template from a draft you just start by performing Step 4 and will still complete the template creation workflow with Step 6

You have just created your template, the reusable sketch of your future contracts which can be revised in a couple of steps and used as many times as needed by you and all your collaborators with the right access permissions.

If you are not certain what the difference between a draft and a template is and when to use each, here is more information we have prepared for you.
