For your comfort, there are different ways to filter, sort, and search across your documents in Contractbook.
Categories
Your documents categories can help you locate all your documents available under your Contractbook account or only specific ones based on their status: drafts, pending, signed or rejected.
Please note that the document must be part of your private folders in order to appear in "My documents" overview:
Filters
Filters are available to help you locate documents based on their type (Owned by me/Owned by others/Uploaded), added a tag, or precise date of signature.
You can combine categories and filters for a very narrowed-down document overview:
Sort by
You can choose to sort your documents by the following criteria:
- Title A ➡️ Z: sorts your documents in an alphabetical order of their titles
- If there are any numbers in the titles, you need to use the following algorithm (this is how almost all platforms list numbers correctly in alphabetical order):
- Add as many starting 0 as the count of digits you anticipate your final number is going to include. This is an example:
- Start with 001 instead of 1
- Start with 010 instead of 10
- Then any numbers with three digits remain without leading 0 (100 remains 100)
- Add as many starting 0 as the count of digits you anticipate your final number is going to include. This is an example:
- If there are any numbers in the titles, you need to use the following algorithm (this is how almost all platforms list numbers correctly in alphabetical order):
- Title Z ➡️ A: sorts your documents in a reverse alphabetical order of their titles
- Creation date Oldest ➡️ Newest: sorts your documents in a chronological order by creation date, starting from the oldest one
- Creation date Newest ➡️ Oldest: sorts your documents in a chronological order by creation date, starting from the most recently created one
Tags
To avoid too many folders within folders, you can add Contractbook tags for your usage.
This is a feature that will help you organize even better your legal work. You can add several different tags to an individual document:

Your tags will appear under filters which you can then use to filter your documents:
Note: Tags are only visible to you. Even if a document you have tagged is shared with others, they will not be able to see your tags.
OCR and Search
You can search for specific keywords, dates, or any other details within your documents. The Advanced Search ability in Contractbook applies both to native and any uploaded files.
Date extraction allows you to add automatic tasks and reminders to the most important deadlines in your legal agreements.
